Two of the best reasons to live in California is the wonderful weather all year round, and its proximity to the ocean. You can have snow-capped mountains to ski in during winter, and have the beach nearby in the summer. It’s still generally sunny, although I think it has rained almost every weekend since the beginning of the year (damn you, climate change).
Fortunately, the weather was just right for the opening day of The Flower Fields in Carlsbad. The day started a bit gloomy, but eventually, the clouds gave way to Mr. Sun. I even got a bit of sunburn at that. 🙂
We spent around 2 hours walking and taking photos even if the fields were only 20% bloomed. They said it’s better to visit mid-season when all the flowers are already in full bloom, but expect crowds during that time. I personally prefer enjoying the place in peace, and having it all to myself. Sort of.
They have so many activities lined up for the months of March and April, like basket weaving, stone painting, flower arrangement workshops, etc. There will even be live music on some days. 🙂 For more info, visit their website at www.theflowerfields.com.
